The newest trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness both revealed and hinted at plenty of upcoming surprises. Some of these include the hinted existence of the Illuminati, a group from the comics which happens to include Professor Charlies Xavier. This is because the new trailer reveals that Patrick Stewart, who played Professor X in the X-Men films, is in Doctor Strange 2 as part of a group. As such, it’s easy to connect the dots. This group also includes the Fantastic Four character Reed Richards, so it’s been expected that he’ll be appearing in the film as played by John Krasinski. Now a new IMDb listing seems to suggest another alleged Fantastic Four character will be joining Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
While it isn’t any specific actor, there was a listing added on IMDb via Cosmic Circus for Nicanor Mendoza III (highlighted in the image below). They were listed as the costumer for the Human Torch. Because Nicanor Mendoza III has already worked on a variety of Marvel projects, this seems to have a lot of weight to it. In fact, they’re even listed as the Costume Designer for Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four MCU movie. As such, if there was some kind of Human Torch appearance in the Doctor Strange sequel, there’s no doubt that he’d be the person involved.
Any details beyond that, however, are nonexistent. It’s unknown who could be playing this Doctor Strange version of the character, or whether or not they’ll be carried over into the upcoming Fantastic Four film. As such, this should all still be taken with a grain of salt. But considering how many cameos are being hyped up for the upcoming sequel, it’s reasonable to expect some Fantastic Four characters to show up.
Sam Raimi directed Doctor Strange 2, otherwise known as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, from a screenplay written by Jade Bartlett and Michael Waldron. The film’s cast includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Xochitl Gomez.
Audiences will be able to see Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness when it hits theaters on May 6, 2022.
