Captain Marvel actress Brie Larson appears to jump back and forth between controversy and a normal public reputation. Now things are turning back to controversy, especially after Brie Larson has continued to promote her NFT purchases on social media.
The sale of NFTs has become quite controversial no matter who you are. While some believe that it’s the new way of purchasing art or digital items online, others believe it’s nothing more than a scam and sometimes even worse than that. Now because Marvel actress Brie Larson shared her latest NFT purchase, she is facing backlash on her Twitter account.
As you can see below, she shared her NFT purchase – which happens to be a brand new profile picture.

Many users have responded to the actress in an attempt to sway her away from the promotion of NFTs. In fact, they noted that not only do they seem to have detrimental effects on the environment, but that they can also promote art theft and scammers. These have been common complaints regarding NFTs, but since Brie Larson seems to have not acknowledged any of these in her posts, her followers are eager to educate her. Others, on the other hand, have completely dissociated themselves with Brie Larson. And, of course, some fans have actually tried to defend Brie Larson and her purchase of the NFT.
As you can see in the below Twitter responses:
Omg, not you too. I don’t know how many celebs need to hear this but – *takes deep breath* – NFTS & CRYPTO ARE HORRENDOUSLY BAD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT, WORSE THAN THE ENTIRE CARBON FOOTPRINT OF SOME COUNTRIES, SO BAD IT’S TEARING KAZAKHSTAN APART IN CIVIL WAR.
Please, PLEASE stop.

I know you meant well considering the charities, but trust us, investing in NFTs isn’t a good idea. The amount of power required to preserve just one is quite harmful to the environment, and it’s made art theft easier to the point that many are afraid to post online anymore.

You are being manipulated to pitch a ponzi scheme. This is very, very bad. Please do some research before you contribute to poor people becoming destitute. This is actively harming people. Its bad.

At this point, it isn’t exactly surprising to see Twitter followers upset with Brie Larson. It doesn’t look like she always has the best of luck with social media, almost always being targeted. With that said, it’ll be interesting to see if she acknowledges these complaints or continues to purchase NFTs that she can share online. Only time will tell, and whether or not it’ll have an impact on her work as an actress.
