Many fans have been hoping that the series Criminal Minds would find its way back to our television screens. While some statements suggested that there wasn’t any kind of revival happening, it seems the tables have once again turned in favor of a reboot. In fact, it’s been revealed that Paramount Plus is actively developing a revival of Criminal Minds with six original stars set to return.
Deadline reports that fan-favorite cast members Joe Mantegna, Kirsten Vangsness, Adam Rodriguez, A.J. Cook, Aisha Tyler and Paget Brewster, have all agreed to come back – subject to their deals closing, as negotiations are still underway. Negotiations are also said to be underway with Erica Messer, the longtime showrunner/executive producer of the series but talks are still ongoing and “not close enough for a deal to be imminent”.
This should definitely have fans who were unsure about the possibility of a revival very excited. The original 15 seasons have become quite popular over the years, so there’s no doubt an audience for such a property to come back. And since we know that it is in active development, it shouldn’t be much longer before we hear more concrete news. As such, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates on the Criminal Minds reboot and its inevitable release on Paramount Plus.
The cast for the original series included Mandy Patinkin, Shemar Moore, Joe Mantegna, Aisha Tyler, Matthew Gray Gubler, Thomas Gibson, Lola Glaudini, Adam Rodriguez, AJ Cook and Brewster. As stated above, it’s expected that most if not all of these cast members will be returning for the upcoming revival. Similarly, it’s expected that original series executive producer and showrunner Erica Messer would be returning for the new series.
With two spin-offs having already been released, Criminal Minds remains a popular series on the minds of audiences. As such, it will be great looking forward to a revival of the series.
