One of the most successful horror franchises of the 2010’s, right next to The Conjuring and its many continuations, is none other than the Insidious film series. With the film franchise having reached four installments, fans were eager to know if a fifth film would ever get underway. Eventually, Insidious 5 was indeed announced, but there wasn’t much news after that. This appears to be changing, however, as Insidious 5 is now being prepared for shooting in 2022.
This exciting news was revealed by star Patrick Wilson, who recently spoke with ScreenRant. It seems that they’re currently in the process of scouting for locations, and that the actual film production will begin this Spring. As such, fans won’t have much longer to wait to get some concrete Insidious 5 news.
Here’s what he stated when asked if Insidious 5 was still going to move forward:
“Yeah, we are. We’re scouting locations now, and we start shooting in the spring.”
The new film will be directed by star Patrick Wilson, who will also be acting in the film. The screenplay was written by Scott Teems based on an original story by Leigh Whannell. What’s more, Ty Simpkins will reprise his role as Dalton Lambert, the son of Patrick Wilson’s character. The project will be produced by Jason Blum, James Wan, Leigh Whannell, and Oren Peli.
While there’s no release date given, if production begins this Spring, it seems likely to expect the upcoming horror film released sometime in 2023. In any case, that means there will be plenty of exciting updates along the way. As such, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any updates on Insidious 5 and its 2022 production as we have them. This should be a really great film for fans of the franchise, especially considering it’ll be Patrick Wilson’s biggest role in the series since we saw his character in Insidious: Chapter 2, way back in 2013.
