One of the most iconic horror films of all time, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, is about to get a new direct sequel. The upcoming film, titled Texas Chainsaw Massacre, will be arriving on Netflix’s streaming platform this February. Fans have been curious about the new film, which follows the events of the 1974 original nearly five decades later. Now to satisfy some of their curiosity, Netflix has finally unveiled the full trailer for Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
After so many other sequels, remakes, and prequels to both, it’s nice to see something that tries to get back to the terrifying roots of the original. While fans will have to wait until February to see the full film, this newly released trailer is an interesting tease of what’s to come. Unlike Friday the 13th or A Nightmare on Elm Street, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre never had much of an ongoing narrative. Hopefully this new film will change that.
Here’s the full trailer for Texas Chainsaw Massacre:
With the film premiering directly on Netflix this February, fans won’t have much longer to wait. With a new Scream sequel having been released earlier this year, and Halloween Ends on the way for October, it’s certainly a great time to be a slasher fan. Hopefully Leatherface will make as great of a comeback as some of his peers have done lately.
David Blue Garcia directed the film based on a screenplay written by Chris Thomas Devlin.
The cast for the film includes Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Mark Burnham, Moe Dunford, Alice Krige, Jacob Latimore, Nell Hudson, Jessica Allain, Sam Douglas, William Hope, and Jolyon Coy. Olwen Fouéré will play Sally Hardesty and Mark Burnham will play Leatherface. John Larroquette will reprise his role from the original as the film’s narrator.
Fans will be able to see Texas Chainsaw Massacre when it premieres on the Netflix streaming service on February 18, 2022.
