The 1993 film Hocus Pocus has earned a massive following over the decades, only growing in popularity since its original release. After years of campaigning and various false starts, Disney eventually confirmed that they would begin development on a sequel. The newly titled Hocus Pocus 2 soon went into production, with original stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy returning to reprise their roles from the first film. After months of shooting, it’s now been confirmed by both producer Adam Shankman and star Bette Midler on social media that the film has wrapped. What’s more, they confirmed that Hocus Pocus 2 will be streaming on Disney Plus in time for Halloween 2022.
This is great news, especially for fans of the original that never suspected a sequel would get made. It’s certainly a surreal occasion, and audiences are hyped by the good news. This can be read in producer Adam Shankman’s enthusiastic social media post.

As for the basis of the new sequel…
“Three young women accidentally bring back the Sanderson Sisters to modern day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking havoc on the world.”
Anne Fletcher directed the film from a screenplay by Jen D’Angelo. The cast for the film includes Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the original Sanderson Sisters. The cast also includes Taylor Henderson, Stephanie Faracy, and Sam Richardson.
With this new announcement, fans can expect Hocus Pocus 2 to hit the Disney Plus streaming service in time for Halloween 2022.
