Netflix’s upcoming sequel to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, titled Texas Chainsaw Massacre, will be arriving this February. Of course, fans are still anxious for more news and information regarding the upcoming horror sequel. Luckily, one major announcement was just released. It turns out that original The Texas Chain Saw Massacre narrator, John Larroquette, will return to narrate Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre film.
This should absolutely add another layer of authenticity to the film. As explained in the announcement via Variety, David Blue Garcia wanted to “honor the original ‘TCM’ at every opportunity.” Indeed, having the original narrator come back is a great step in that direction.
Here’s what was stated by director David Blue Garcia:
“It felt important to honor the original ‘TCM’ at every opportunity. John’s voice is iconic in the original opening and we thought it would help set the perfect tone in our own intro. It’s also a subtle way of letting the fans know they’re in good hands.”
He continued: “I can’t wait for fans to analyze and find all of the callbacks, some of which aren’t even intentional. I swear some stuff just happened and it’s kind of freaky. I will say that we shot with one of the original, working Poulan chainsaws from the original film. On set, every morning I would walk by the prop cart, touch it and get its blessing for the day.”
Aside from the original film, John Larroquette also lent his vocal talents to the 2003 remake The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and its 2006 prequel. Of course, this film will be acting as a direct sequel to the original film instead, which makes this narration all that more special.
David Blue Garcia directed the film based on a screenplay written by Chris Thomas Devlin.
The cast for the film includes Elsie Fisher, Sarah Yarkin, Mark Burnham, Moe Dunford, Alice Krige, Jacob Latimore, Nell Hudson, Jessica Allain, Sam Douglas, William Hope, and Jolyon Coy. Olwen Fouéré will play Sally Hardesty and Mark Burnham will play Leatherface.
Fans will be able to see Texas Chainsaw Massacre when it premieres on the Netflix streaming service on February 18, 2022.
