The Batman is a movie that is fast approaching its March release date. As you all likely already know, the film was initially supposed to be released in 2021 before being delayed. Though some fans weren’t too happy about Robert Pattinson being cast as the title character, the trailers that have been released for the Matt Reeves directed film have seemingly washed away those fears. If you were looking forward to the movie, we’re hoping you were looking forward to a long movie, as the latest update suggests that’s what you’ll be getting.
According to a listing on IMAX Melbourne, the upcoming DC Comics movie will be 176 minutes – or 2 hours and 56 minutes – which would easily make it the longest Batman solo movie we’ve ever had. It’s worth pointing out, however, that sometimes these listings are inaccurate, so it’ll be interesting to see if there are any further developments on it, as this does seem like a pretty long runtime.
Matt Reeves has stated that the movie isn’t going to be an another origin story that we’ve already seen before, and instead will focus on the Year Two aspect of the Caped Crusader. As the director himself put it:
“But I wanted to do a story where he’s already been through the origins and does not yet really know exactly how to be Batman. It is a Year Two story. And I wanted you to connect to him. Not only as Bruce but as Batman.”
That type of story does sound a lot more interesting than just redoing what the audience has already been given – and judging by the trailers, it already looks like the film is definitely going to be taking a different route which is something that should make fans very excited.
The Batman is set for release in theaters on March 4th.
