It was speculated, rumored, and even leaked for quite some time that actors Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire were involved with Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, neither actor managed to confirm their involvement until the film was finally released in theaters. While Tobey Maguire simply kept quiet on the matter, Andrew Garfield was much more vocal in denying his involvement. It appears that this extended to Emma Stone, as Andrew Garfield revealed he even lied to her about being in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Andrew Garfield revealed as much while speaking with the Happy Sad Confused podcast. Apparently he “kept it going,” constantly denying Emma Stone’s suspicions about his involvement.
Here’s what he said in particular:
“Emma kept on texting me. She was like, ‘Are you in this new Spider-Man film?'” Andrew Garfield explained on the podcast. “And I was like I don’t know what you’re talking about. She was like shut up just tell me and I was like I honestly don’t know…I kept it going, even with her, it was hilarious….And then she saw it, she was like, ‘you’re a jerk.'”
This made my brain explode!! Guess who else Andrew Garfield lied to about being in SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME? Emma Stone!

Much like with Emma Stone, Andrew Garfield certainly kept all of us going for quite some time. While his involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home was suggested very early on, the actor managed to deny this from the very beginning. While some fans knew that the actor had to be lying, others weren’t so sure. It seemed clear that no one would know the truth until the film finally hit theaters. And, of course, the truth came out to everyone’s delight – Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire were indeed involved with Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was a great crossover and a true treat for fans of all the different Spider-Man continuities.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently out now.
