It seems there are no shortage of ways for fans to get their Marvel fix these days. With new films hitting theaters, original shows on Disney Plus, and even more shows available on Hulu – there’s always a way to find something to watch. Unfortunately, with Disney placing more of their focus on Disney Plus, it leaves fans wondering if Hulu will still fit into the equation. Unfortunately, it seems the future of their deal with Marvel is equally vague for Hulu Originals president Craig Erwich.
Craig Erwich recently spoke this Tuesday for a Winter Television Critics Association press tour, and answered plenty of questions about Hulu and the platform’s future. Inevitably, the topic of Marvel came up, and it turns out that Erwich didn’t have much to say.
As noted via Alex Zalben of Decider:
“Asked about the future of Marvel on Hulu, Erwich says they have no announcements regarding HIT-MONKEY or MODOK, or any Marvel series of any kind. Basically avoids the question.”
He further emphasized the following direct quote from Craig Erwich:
“Marvel and team will make the decisions for that franchise, and that brand.”
The teams at Disney and Marvel that develop the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been becoming much more focused with interconnectivity. In fact, more and more shows and characters have been brought over to Disney Plus and the theatrical MCU over the years. And we certainly know that they have no problem cancelling fan-favorite shows, as was the case on Netflix with properties like Daredevil. But because Hulu is under the Disney brand, it seems less likely that they would outright cancel their shows on the streaming service. Of course, there’s no way to know for sure what they could all be planning.
Hopefully whatever the case is, fans won’t be disappointed by the outcome. With fan-favorite shows like MODOK and Hit-Monkey, it would be great if they could continue undisturbed while Disney places their focus on other properties for Disney Plus.
