The Marvel Disney Plus show list continues to grow with the upcoming Echo series currently being developed. Echo was introduced to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in the Hawkeye series that aired on Disney Plus over the holidays. Initially, Echo was introduced as an antagonist before ultimately realizing that Clint Barton and Kate Bishop were not her enemies, but rather Wilson Fisk aka Kingpin. Echo was last seen on screen (spoiler alert) shooting Fisk in the head after realizing he had her father killed.
The audience never actually saw Fisk getting shot – leaving many to assume he’s not done just yet. With that being said, fans can expect a lot of familiarity in the Echo writing room, as writers Ken Kristensen and Dara Resnik have both signed on to help develop the show, according to The Illuminerdi. Kristensen was part of the writing team for Netflix’s The Punisher during both of its seasons, while Resnik helped pen the third season of Daredevil.
As for the plot surrounding Echo, nothing is known just yet, except for that Alaqua Cox will be returning to reprise her role as Maya Lopez. The show may open up the door for the likes of Vincent D’Onofrio’s Wilson Fisk and Charlie Cox’s Daredevil to continue their respective MCU journeys. As mentioned, D’Onofrio was ultimately brought back in Hawkeye, while Cox made a surprise appearance as Matt Murdock in Spider-Man: No Way Home, serving as Peter Parker’s lawyer.
The potential of having both Daredevil and Kingpin in future MCU films, interacting with the likes of a masked Tom Holland as Spider-Man, would certainly be a treat. They could also potentially bring in other members of Netflix’s Defenders Universe such as Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, Finn Jones’ Iron Fist, and so many more.
If you haven’t already, you can check out the entire first season of Hawkeye streaming now on Disney Plus.
