Before Spider-Man: No Way Home was finally released in theaters, there were quite a few rumors and leaked about Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. Their involvement in the film remained unconfirmed, and fans were unsure of how big their roles could possibly be. Once the film was released, it all became clear. Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire both reprised their respective versions of Spider-Man, and their characters had plenty of screen time during the film’s third act. Nevertheless, it remained unclear just how much time Andrew and Tobey spent on set for Spider-Man: No Way Home – though we now have the answer.
As revealed in an interview with Variety, Andrew Garfield were able to specify that he and Tobey Maguire spent a total of “two weeks” on the Spider-Man: No Way Home set. This allowed just enough time for the two beloved actors to contribute to No Way Home in a meaningful way.
Here’s what Andrew Garfield specifically had to say:
“We were shooting for two weeks, Toby and I, but I think we managed to achieve something that is not just showing up and going, ‘Hi! Bye!’ My Spider-Man got to save his younger brother’s romantic relationship, potentially.”
While fans would have no doubt wanted as much Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire as possible, it seems things worked out for the best. The balance with Tom Holland, the film’s villains, and finally Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, made for a perfect Spider-Man crossover. Of course, many fans are hopeful that it’s not the last we’ve seen of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. With fans campaigning to get The Amazing Spider-Man 3 and Spider-Man 4 made, there’s no telling just how much of these characters we could expect to see in the future.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently available in theaters.
