While it’s now widely known that Andrew Garfield reprises his role of Peter Parker aka Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home, for a long time it was unconfirmed. In fact, although it was rumored he’d be returning, Andrew Garfield continuously denied his involvement. But now that the secret is out along with the film, Andrew Garfield has finally opened up about working on No Way Home.
As revealed in his interview with Variety, Andrew Garfield was very grateful for his experience on Spider-Man: No Way Home. It apparently gave the character some much-needed closure after the way Amazing Spider-Man 2 ended. Obviously, many fans felt the same, so it was a pleasant treat to have Andrew Garfield return.
Here’s what he stated overall:
“I am so grateful. I’m just really, really grateful that I got to tie up some loose ends for the Peter that I was playing. I love that character and I’m grateful that I got to work with these incredible actors, this incredible director, and Marvel in conjunction with Sony. It was joyful, and a feeling of closure for me. There was so many unanswered questions for my Peter, where we left it. I got to step back in and get some healing for him. And also really supporting [Holland’s] Peter, and honoring his character completing that trilogy, not distracting or detracting from it.”
Although Andrew Garfield’s appearance in the new film did deliver some closure, it hasn’t been enough for some fans. Despite apparently not getting a call to come back yet, many fans are campaigning to have Sony produce an Amazing Spider-Man 3. And considering the positive responses to Andrew Garfield’s appearance in No Way Home, who knows? It could just happen. As always, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates as we have them. Until then, it was nice to have had Andrew Garfield return at all.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe film Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently playing in theaters.
