One of the most exciting surprises from Spider-Man: No Way Home is that Andrew Garfield really did return to reprise his role as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man. Andrew Garfield played the beloved superhero in The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel, only to have the film series seemingly canceled to make room for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. But now that Andrew Garfield has made his return as Spider-Man, fans are anxious to know if he could make a return for The Amazing Spider-Man 3. Well, it turns out even Andrew Garfield doesn’t know if he’ll be returning to the superhero franchise.
The actor recently spoke with the Happy Sad Confused podcast, via ComicBookMovie, and they asked if he’d been contacted about coming back yet again to the role.
Unfortunately, Andrew Garfield noted that so far no one has asked him about another Spider-Man return.
Specifically, he stated he “ain’t got the call.”
Of course, actor Andrew Garfield also stated for quite some time that he had no involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Obviously, we know how that turned out. So perhaps he could’ve already gotten “the call” about coming back as Spider-Man. Only time will tell, and perhaps with an official announcement from Sony. Nevertheless, considering the actor made an appearance within the Marvel Cinematic Universe of all places – it wouldn’t be that much of a stretch to see him come back for another proper Amazing Spider-Man film.
With Sony developing a wide variety of projects surrounding Spider-Man and related characters, they’re certainly not afraid to dabble in multiple continuities at once. So odds are, we’ll probably be seeing Andrew Garfield again sooner or later. Perhaps the same could be said for Tobey Maguire as well. We’ll just have to keep on waiting and see what happens.
Meanwhile, fans can still see Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is currently playing in theaters.
