The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been successfully expanding on both television and on the big screen. As such, 2021 has proven to be another successful year for the ongoing superhero franchise. With that in mind, fans are eager to know what’s next for the various superhero films and shows on the way. While many of these have already been revealed, it appears there are still many more on the horizon. In fact, it appears that Marvel reportedly has over 20 unannounced MCU projects in development.
Specifically, a new tweet from Charles Murphy of Murphy’s Multiverse has revealed this news. He noted that there’s evidence of an additional eight unannounced projects currently in development at Marvel. While that already seems like a lot, Charles Murphy already had evidence for many others – which brings his knowledge to a total of 21 unannounced Marvel projects. What’s more, there are already 22 projects that have been announced.
Here’s what he said:
Small gift under your tree: over the last month, the team @MultiverseMurph has found proof of 8 new, unnamed Marvel projects. What are they? We have no idea but you know we're going to try to find out. It's likely there are more we haven't found out about as well.
Merry Christmas— Charles Murphy (@_CharlesMurphy) December 25, 2021
This is quite a large number to comprehend. What’s more, it only consists of projects being developed by Marvel themselves. This means the number doesn’t include any future Spider-Man projects or anything else Sony has going on. So it seems like we can expect a tremendous amount of superhero projects in the foreseeable future. With Marvel, their Sony partnership, and Disney’s recent acquisition of Fox, the potential is virtually endless for what could be in development.
It’s expected that these projects won’t just include live-action shows and films, but also Marvel’s animated shows, specials, and short films. Nevertheless, it goes to show how much the brand has expanded over the years and will continue to expand. So we’ll likely have plenty of new superhero news to cover, especially at the rate these projects get announced.
