The John Wick film series has remained one of the most popular modern action franchises. The films feature actor Keanu Reeves as the titular character, a once-retired assassin who returns to the business on a quest for vengeance. With every film continuing to boost the character’s popularity, it’s hard not to see that Lionsgate has been regularly putting out new films with the character. Unfortunately, it looks like John Wick: Chapter 4 has now been delayed from its initial 2022 release date.
While fans would’ve initially only had to wait until 2022, it looks like we’ll now be waiting until a 2023 release date before we see John Wick again. This is definitely going to be quite the delay, especially given the major ending of John Wick: Chapter 3. But at least Lionsgate released a fun way to announce the new release date in the form of a clever video announcement.
As you can see in the below video:
While a release date delay is almost always disappointing, at least Lionsgate included this fun John Wick: Chapter 4 video to make it a little better. The footage is very clearly done with the unique style and visuals of the film franchise in mind, and it should make any fan of the series smile.
The upcoming film will once again be directed by filmmaker Chad Stahelski. He’s directing from a screenplay written by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch.
The cast for the film will once again star the aforementioned Keanu Reeves, alongside returning cast members Laurence Fishburne, Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, as well as Rina Sawayama. The new cast members joining the film include Clancy Brown, Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, Bill SkarsgÄrd, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Scott Adkins.
The film was originally scheduled for a release date on May 27, 2022. With the new delay, fans will have an additional ten months to see John Wick: Chapter 4 when it’s released on March 24, 2023.
