Keanu Reeves is one of the biggest names that fans continue to fantasy cast into the MCU, and they might just end up getting their wish. The Matrix Resurrections and John Wick star recently confirmed that he has, in fact, spoken with Marvel producer Kevin Feige about finding him a spot in the MCU.
Reeves has had the opportunity to join the MCU in the past. He was originally expected to play Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel until some scheduling conflicts with John Wick: Chapter 3 forced Jude Law to step in. Other rumors suggest that Reeves was interested in playing Moon Knight for the upcoming Disney Plus series, but of course, that role ultimately went to Oscar Isaac. It’s also rumored that Reeves flat our turned down a chance to play Kraven The Hunter in Sony’s spin-off film for the villain. Kraven will instead be played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
In an interview with ComicBook.com, Reeves said he enjoyed speaking to Feige, but they haven’t found anything quite right for him just yet.
“We haven’t yet. We have met, and [Kevin Feige]’s a cool cat. Yeah. But no, we don’t have anything, gotta find something.”
Speaking to the same publication two years ago, Feige made it known that Marvel is very interested in having Reeves in their cinematic universe.
“We talk to him for almost every film we make. We talk to Keanu Reeves about. I don’t know when, if, or ever he’ll join the MCU, but we very much want to figure out the right way to do it.”
With no shortage of potential heroes or villains in Marvel’s vault, fans shouldn’t lose hope that Keanu Reeves will one day step in and join the MCU down the line. It sounds like it’s only a matter of time. One thing is for certain though, they won’t pull the trigger unless it’s the right fit.
