There’s always been an appeal for horror films that focused on killer toys. Whether it be the more notorious Child’s Play, or lesser known flicks like Puppet Master and Demonic Toys, there’s something so fascinating about the concept. It’s proven itself to work for both big-budget projects and low-budget, and this upcoming horror film appears to be the latter. Nevertheless, it looks like the filmmakers took their time to make the concept work and do something rather exciting with a familiar toy – the Jack in the Box. As for this film, however, it’s appropriately titled The Jack in the Box: Awakening.
As you can see below, a trailer for the film has been released. Unlike the aforementioned killer toy films, however, this particular entry seems to take things in a much different direction. In fact, its titular villain is much more akin to a full-sized demon which should be more than a little terrifying.

Lawrence Fowler directed the film from a screenplay he wrote himself. The cast for the film includes Matt McClure, James Swanton, Mollie Hindle, Nicola Wright.
Here’s the plot for the film…
“Terminally ill heiress Olga Marsdale acquires a mysterious gothic box containing a captured demon – Jack. The powerful entity within makes a deadly deal with Olga and her devoted son Edgar – deliver six victims to Jack and Olga will live. They trap several unsuspecting victims for him within the vast crumbling mansion – but can they deliver all six before it’s too late? Or will Amy, the young and innocent woman recently hired to look after the estate turn out to be more than a match for both the family and the Jack?”
The upcoming horror film The Jack in the Box: Awakening will be available to view on January 18, 2022. It will be released on VOD, digital, and DVD.
