Spider-Man: No Way Home is literally in its opening weekend, but it is hard for fans not to look towards the future of the friendly, neighborhood Wall Crawler in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That future is wide open now thanks to the announcement of three more Spidey films in the works and that ending to No Way Home. While the end of this first trilogy leaves the doors wide open for what could come, but also works as a satisfying ending for Spidey in the MCU, this new update points fans to the former as Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal open up on Spider-Man 4.
Feige and Pascal have been together on the No Way Home press junket and have been rather open and candid (especially for Kevin) about things to come. Pascal revealed that another trilogy is already in the works and Feige let us all know that ‘whenever’ we see Daredevil in the MCU, he’ll be played by Charlie Cox.
While speaking with the New York Times, the two producers discussed the how they are already working on the next Spidey film.
“Amy and I and Disney and Sony are talking about — yes, we’re actively beginning to develop where the story heads next, which I only say outright because I don’t want fans to go through any separation trauma like what happened after Far From Home. That will not be occurring this time.”
While it has seemed a bit strange for Feige to be as open as he has been lately, his reasoning here makes sense. The pandemic threw the entire world on its head and brought most of it to a complete stop. As we all try to get back to at least some semblance of normal, both Marvel and Sony want fans to know that, fate willing, there will be no more delays like what we got in 2020.
Pascal goes on to add that the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home gave them a lot of ground to work with in regards to Spidey’s future and they are already deep into what they want to pull off. And, pandemic aside, with the studio partnership developing Spidey films every two years, we could very well see the next movie in late 2023 or early 2024. And after what we got in this last film, the next one can’t come soon enough!
