There has been a lot of news recently from the Head of all of Marvel Entertainment, Kevin Feige. Known as an interview ninja, seamlessly dodging spoiler filled answers like he’s Neo in the Matrix, he has been somewhat more open lately. He revealed, rather nonchalantly, that Charlie Cox would be the actor to portray Daredevil in the Marvel Cinematic Universe moving forward. He has even discussed other heroes from the Netflix series possibly arriving in the MCU at some point. But, ever the master, Feige is back to his vague ways when pressed about the future of Phase 4.
In an exclusive interview with ScreenRant, Feige was asked about when and where any updates on Phase 4 would be coming.
As per usual, Kevin Feige gave an ambiguous answer:
“There’ll be news. There’ll be various events. Obviously with the pandemic, the way we’ve announced things has changed and altered, and in some ways that’s been good, because it’s kept the focus on what’s next. It’s kept the focus on the projects as they come out, and certainly the anticipation for No Way Home, I would say, is as big as anything we’ve ever felt before, which is good timing as the movie’s about to come out.”
So what does that mean? Honestly, we don’t really know – and that is exactly how Kevin Feige likes it. What we do know is that even before the pandemic, Marvel had been in the process of transitioning out of the convention circle. As big as the franchise is, and the fact that their parent company, Disney, is one of the biggest corporations in the world, it stands to reason that they would have their own event focused solely on them, run by them.
Whether it’s virtual like the Disney Investors Day Event or an in-person convention style event once the world is fully back to normal, a Marvel event is something that fans would flock to in droves. So Feige may just be teasing something of this nature with how fans will learn about the future of the MCU.
