There have been multiple actors at this point known for having portrayed Spider-Man in live-action. One such actor is Andrew Garfield, who played the character in The Amazing Spider-Man and its sequel. Another is Tom Holland, who is the current actor to play the character, having done so throughout multiple appearances in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As such, fans have noticed many similarities and differences between the two takes on the character. Now Andrew Garfield has opened up about his thoughts on Tom Holland and what he’s done with Spider-Man so far.
Andrew Garfield revealed his opinions on Tom Holland via a YouTube video from Wired. In the video, “Andrew Garfield Answers the Web’s Most Searched Questions” as indicated in the title. One such question happens to be what he thinks of Tom Holland.
Here’s what he said:
“I really like him,” Garfield says. “I think he’s a wonderful person. I met him once at the BAFTAs one year. We had a lovely talk. He’s a Kingston boy, [so] we’re neighbors pretty much. He’s from Surrey. As an actor, I think he’s absolutely wonderful. I’m super grateful that he’s the one filling out the suit. I love those films. I think they’ve just done an incredible job with it.”
It remains to be seen if Andrew Garfield will ever return as Spider-Man, or more specifically return as the character alongside Tom Holland in No Way Home. While there have been rumors and leaks to suggest he will, Andrew Garfield has continually denied any potential appearances. Of course, we’ll know for sure when the film hits theaters later this month. In the meantime, it’s nice to know what Garfield thinks of the current Spider-Man actor.
The upcoming MCU film was directed by Jon Watts from a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
Tom Holland, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, and Hannibal Buress are all attached to appear.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently scheduled to hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
