At the height of the horror genre in the 1980’s, it seemed like there was an onslaught of awesome metal-focused horror films. With flicks like Trick or Treat, Black Roses, and Rocktober Blood to name a few – it’s surprising to see the subgenre has mostly faded away in today’s filmmaking climate. But that’s no longer the case, as the Foo Fighters have their very own horror film titled Studio 666 on the way! What’s more, a new teaser trailer for the project has been released. And it features none other than the likes of Dave Grohl and Will Arnett.
While not much has been revealed in the teaser trailer, it does promise the kind of crazy heavy metal shenanigans the aforementioned 80’s films were known for. With that said, it also looks like this movie will have a modern edge to it – so it’ll be exciting to see what the Foo Fighters have cooked up with this upcoming horror film. With modern studios very rarely crafting over-the-top horror films, especially those such as this, Studio 666 looks like a pleasant surprise. Especially considering the film is going to have a theatrical release. Hopefully we’ll have another look at the film before then.
Here’s the new teaser trailer for Studio 666, which you can see below:
As for the plot of the new genre movie, it sounds like it’ll be quite a blast for fans…
“In STUDIO 666, the legendary rock band Foo Fighters move into an Encino mansion steeped in grisly rock and roll history to record their much anticipated 10th album. Once in the house, Dave Grohl finds himself grappling with supernatural forces that threaten both the completion of the album and the lives of the band.”
BJ McDonnell directed the upcoming film from a screenplay by Jeff Buhler and Rebecca Hughes, based on a story by Dave Grohl.
Fans will be able to see Studio 666 in theaters on February 25, 2022. You can purchase tickets from the official website. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates on the project as we have them.
