Now that Halloween and Thanksgiving are over, it’s time to start looking forward to Christmas. One of the most popular holidays of the year, Christmas tends to motivate most people to decorate for the occasion. While there are the traditional decorations – lights strung about houses, for example, – there are some variations. In particular, some people have been motivated to recreate one of the many iconic scenes from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. At one point in the film, Clark Griswold ends up hanging from his roof after a mishap with hanging his Christmas lights. Many fans have attempted to recreate the scene with their very own hanging dummies, and it appears one such Christmas decoration prompted a cautious neighbor to call 911.
The good act was actually the basis for a YouTube video which you can see below. One such individual decided to hang a realistic-looking dummy from the roof of his house, tied Christmas lights around their leg, and even added a slumped ladder to complete the effect. While some individuals are no doubt immediately reminded of the hilarious scene from National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, others are rightfully skeptical of the sight. As is the case with one neighbor that didn’t want to take any chances and quickly called 911 over the Christmas decoration.
As you can see below:
While it’s a great way to pay tribute to what’s become a true Christmas classic, perhaps there are less elaborate scenes to recreate. Or at the very least, maybe there are some other films to take inspiration from. For example, Spirit Halloween has now released a brand new 6.5 foot tall replica of Krampus from the film of the same name. Now there’s a Christmas decoration that’s both unconventional and (presumably) won’t prompt any neighbors to call 911.
In either case, let’s hope everyone has a safe Christmas holiday.
