Not too long ago, Tom Holland made some comments that had fans speculating that he wouldn’t be staying on much longer as the MCU’s Spider-Man. That’s apparently not the case, and with three weeks left until Spider-Man: No Way Home hits theaters – and on the day that tickets have gone on sale – it looks like fans can expect to see Holland in the role for the foreseeable future.
What happens after Spider-Man: No Way Home, though, is anyone’s guess at this point – aside from the people at Marvel Studios and Sony who obviously have a plan.
In a new interview with Fandango, Sony’s Amy Pascal spoke about the future of Peter Parker/Spider-Man – and not only are they developing another movie with Marvel Studios – it looks like a trilogy is planned.
“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie. We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”
So there you have it. Any fans that were worried we wouldn’t have Tom Holland making a return after Spider-Man: No Way Home can now rest easy knowing it will be a long time before we see any new actor in the beloved Marvel role. It will be interesting to see what happens in the upcoming third film, as it will obviously impact the future of the Spider-Man franchise and the Marvel Cinematic Universe in general.
Aside from the future of the MCU movies, it’s said that Sony is working on developing more movies for their Spider-Man Universe. The studio is said to be developing solo films for Kraven the Hunter, Rhino and Sandman – though it’s uncertain if the characters will be more like anti-heroes than villains – similar to Venom and Morbius. It’s also uncertain if Spider-Man will be included in those movies or not.
For now, can expect to see the next Spider-Man installment in No Way Home in theaters on December 17th.
