We’re closer than ever to the release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, and that means fans are digging deep through the promotional material to find out as much information as they can. Interestingly, the promotional material doesn’t solely include the film, either. There’s actually a new Hyundai commercial with Spider-Man himself. The commercial, which is fittingly titled Only Way Home, even includes what could be a subtle plot point in the new film.
As you can see in the commercial below, there’s a license plate number on the Hyundai itself that could be a pretty big clue. Specifically, the license plate reads “ASM 536” which doesn’t mean much at first glance. But when you break it down, it seems to stand for “Amazing Spider-Man 536” which directs to Issue 536 of Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 1.
There’s a hotel scene featured in both the Spider-Man comic book issue and the new Hyundai commercial which is incredibly similar. While the reference could end there, it’s also possible that a deeper meaning could be located. In particular, some have speculated that the commercial might explain how the new villains in Spider-Man: No Way Home have seemingly gained access to so much of Tony Stark’s technology. This is because in the aforementioned comic book issue, Tony Stark himself happens to attack Spider-Man.
This is when Spider-Man, aka Peter Parker, reveals that he has the ability to override Stark’s own technology. And, considering so many villains in Spider-Man: No Way Home now have Stark’s tech, it seems they too could have had the ability to override it. There’s also the fact that Tony Stark as Iron Man attacks Spider-Man in the comic, although it’s unlikely that something that drastic would occur in the already-packed Spider-Man: No Way Home. In any case, it’s a fun enough commercial, and just as fun to analyze the possibilities.
