Though the Kyle Rittenhouse trial and verdict is almost a week behind us, it’s still a very heavily talked about topic. Celebrities and various others have all given their opinion on it – and now, Marvel Cinematic Universe and Incredible Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo has weighed in – and his tweet is not exactly going over well at the time of writing.
In a Twitter post, Ruffalo said “We come together to mourn the lives lost to the same racist system that devalues Black lives and devalued the lives of Anthony and JoJo”.
As well as some other tweets the actor sent out that you can view below:
We come together to mourn the lives lost to the same racist system that devalues Black lives and devalued the lives of Anthony and JoJo. #ReimagineKenosha

After all we have seen and heard about these weapons of war, these killing machines, there is no doubt that people who faced this young man were more afraid of him than he was of them. He was the one with a weapon of war, loaded and ready to be used on people.

Justice weeps bitterly today. We are coming together to heal the scars left by the wounds of this grief. We will care for each other and remember why we continue to march. @WisconsinAllIn @LeadersKenosha @blocbyblocMKE

As you can see below, the response was not very kind:
Do you normally use cutesy pet names for child rapists?

You call a child rapist “JoJo?” Copy that, Hollywood.

Child rapist defending fucking cunt – hang your head in shame, you compromised, sellout bastard.
— Paul Joseph Watson (@PrisonPlanet) November 21, 2021
Liberalism is a disease. Don’t call him Jojo 🤣
He raped CHILDREN. @MarkRuffalo what on earth is wrong with you?
— Hodgetwins (@hodgetwins) November 21, 2021
Do yourself a favor and go back and watch the trial.

I think “JoJo” devalued his own life when:
(1) He became a child rapist and went to prison for raping children, and
(2) He violently attacked a man lawfully armed with an AR-15.

Same day, same verdict. Evidence matters. Care to comment? pic.twitter.com/SBZxgxGaRv

like honestly have you watched the trails?!
I recommend to watch it before throwing out a misguided take like this.
You have a responsibility as a public figure to present facts not a misleading politically charged narrative.
I respected you before, not anymore, what a shame!— Omar Osamah (@Omarosamah) November 20, 2021
Some, however, came to the defense of the actor:
Thank you❤️ it’s just too much somedays but the fighting can never stop #BlackLivesMatter

We don’t like white collar criminals that destroy the lives of small business owners either, but I defend their right not to die by gunshot of a vigilante.

Kyle wouldn’t have known that though. Kyle caused all fatalities at the protest.

Connecting dots that aren’t there. I mean you gotta kbow details.of the case nd I doubt they even know. Plus God damnit I’ma say it Rosenbaum wasn’t trying to have sex with Kyle so why do we harp on that detail?
— KATOMS (@KalMFAtoms) November 22, 2021
Shouldn’t he still be charged with some form of charge considering if he felt threatened or thought it was a dangerous situation, he shouldn’t have been there in the first place? That or self defense laws in USA and the state are fucked lol. He should’ve got the lesser charges.

I watched. Many of us did. The man-child was guilty.

Don’t mind the right-wing populist trolls / ideologues, Mark.
Just because the people who were shot ended up not appearing to be virtuous people, this does not retroactively make shooting those people good and fine.

There have been other celebrities who have faced similar criticism for their tweets about the subject, including The Mandalorian actor Pedro Pascal and Reese Witherspoon, just to name a couple. While everyone may not have the same opinion on the subject, it’s fair to say that the trial is far from done being discussed – despite being over.
As far as what’s next for Mark Ruffalo, the actor will return as Bruce Banner/Hulk in the upcoming She-Hulk series for Disney Plus.
