The relationship and breakup of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has been quite the journey to follow over the years. The two initially accused one another of alleged domestic abuse, endured a variety of legal trials, and now evidence continues to pop up that has further intensified their legal battles. It’s made thousands of fans furious that Amber Heard is still working in Hollywood, and thousands of others upset that Johnny Depp has seemingly lost important parts of his career. Now a new Discovery Plus documentary will further explore the story behind Johnny Depp and Amber Heard, specifically with their relationship breakdown.
As revealed via Deadline, the new documentary titled Johnny vs. Amber will actually tell the story from both of their perspectives. As a result, the documentary will be split into two parts – with one focusing on Johnny Depp, and the second part focusing on Amber Heard.
Here’s what was stated in the announcement:
“The celebrity court case of the decade will first introduce Depp’s side, how he felt he was married to a Machiavellian liar who would stop at nothing to protect her image, before Heard’s episode explains how the actress married the man of her dreams only to see him turn into a violent drug-fueled monster.”
It’s been further noted that the documentary “will feature interviews with lawyers on both sides along with people close to the pair and extensive archive and audio footage.” This means that fans should get plenty of insight into the two celebrities’ relationship and how it broke down.
The Amber Heard and Johnny Depp documentary will be executive produced by Nick Hornby and Fran Baker, with UK Crazy Delicious producer Optomen producing and Matt Reid executive producing for Discovery.
Nick Hornby gave the following statement:
“Through the tapes, home videos and text messages shown in court, these films give viewers a rare and important insight into a marriage that went tragically wrong, and to better understand the hugely important issue of domestic violence.”
With the way the trials and accusations have been, Johnny vs. Amber should be an especially enlightening watch.
