Fans across the globe are excited for Spider-Man: No Way Home, the next feature film entry in the expanding Marvel Cinematic Universe. The new movie is intended to bring together quite a few Marvel characters, both from the MCU and elsewhere. This includes Doctor Strange, who alongside Spider-Man, will be responsible for the Multiverse breaking open. This results in a variety of Spider-Man villains from past franchises, such as Doc Ock, Green Goblin, and Electro – to break through into the MCU. Obviously, there’s a lot going on, and the film’s marketing has reflected that. But it seems that a newly released teaser actually changes a scene with Doctor Strange from a previous No Way Home trailer.
As the fans who’ve seen the second trailer already know, there’s a massive moment when Doctor Strange is standing in New York City at night. He’s looking at some incredible purple lights before saying, “They’re starting to come through, and I can’t stop them!” Well, as it turns out, The Direct noted the scene might not be taking place at night after all.
As you can see below, a newly released teaser features one of the same clips with Doctor Strange. However, instead of having the purple-lit background previously associated with the nighttime scene in the second official trailer, there’s a different background. In fact, you can see the brightly lit sun over the horizon in the background. This seems to indicate that the moment could actually be taking place during the day at some point.
Marvel has often altered footage in their trailers to keep their films from being spoiled. While it’s a decent marketing tactic, other eagle-eyed fans are quick to notice differences and discrepancies. As a result, it’s clear something else is going on with this Multiverse scene. Of course, fans might just have to wait until December to really know what’s going on with Doctor Strange and this Spider-Man: No Way Home moment.
The upcoming MCU film was directed by Jon Watts from a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
Tom Holland, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, and Hannibal Buress are all attached to appear.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently scheduled to hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
