Keanu Reeves has been popping up in rumors about getting a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for quite a while now. Despite those rumors usually proving to be false, MCU fans haven’t given up hope for the actor making an appearance somewhere down the line. Reeves has been a part of some pretty big franchises like John Wick and The Matrix, so why not Marvel? Well, the actor has given a response to the possibility – and it’ll definitely make fans happy.
While the actor doesn’t confirm or deny he’s joining or even in talks to join the MCU, he does give quite a glowing endorsement of Marvel Studios’ huge universe of movies.
Speaking to Esquire, Keanu Reeves said:
“Isn’t it bigger than a universe? It’s almost like a Multiverse. It’s a Marvel-verse. It would be an honor. There’s some really amazing directors and visionaries, and they’re doing something that no one’s really ever done. It’s special in that sense, in terms of the scale, the ambition, the production. So it would be cool to be a part of that.”
The answer from Reeves is sure to prompt speculation from fans and should also spawn some rumors that end up not being true, like most of these things do. If Marvel Studios wants the actor to appear in the MCU in the future, though, it doesn’t appear that there will be many obstacles or hurdles to make it happen.
Reeves has actually revealed a Marvel character he’d be interested in playing in the past, as he exclusively told us back in 2018 that he would be interested in playing Wolverine. We’re not sure that would happen now – but they are looking to re-cast the character for the MCU – so who knows what could happen? We’ll just have to wait and see what Marvel decides to do.
