Spider-Man: No Way Home has got to be undoubtedly the most anticipated film of all time. What other movie has a red carpet premiere event for its second trailer?! Sony and Marvel have ingenuously marketed this film to the bare minimum and it is on track to break every box office record ever. Even with some lowlifes trying to spoil the film with leaks so they can gain clout, people are still overly excited for this movie. And the second and probably final trailer is currently breaking the internet. So, let’s break it down here.
This trailer gives us the best idea of the story thus far. It starts with Peter and MJ escaping through New York immediately after the end events of Far From Home. This eventually leads Parker to Doctor Strange to ask him to cast a spell that would erase his identity from the world. After Peter tampers with Doctor Strange’s spell, the multiverse rips open and brings in what looks to be variants of the classic Spidey villains from the previous two franchises.
While we get our best look yet Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Electro, Sandman and The Lizard, they are all slightly different from their previous incarnations.

We get a more in depth look at the bridge scene and we find out that Doc Ock thinks that Spider-Man is his universe’s Spider-Man until Tom Holland’s Peter reveals his face. As it turns out, it may be because Peter was the one who tampered that creates this ‘Nexus Point’ of bringing villains who all fell whilst fighting the Wall Crawler (expect for Sandman, who lived) to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
We also get a better indication of Strange’s reasoning for the seemingly off behavior. He knows that all of these villains’ fates are tied directly to Peter and that they die in battle with Spider-Man. So, Strange feels that fate must not be tampered with. This is something that MCU Peter Parker can’t abide by and tries to ‘steal’ this magical prison that Strange is holding them in (before potentially erasing them from existence?) and leads to the conflict between the two heroes.
It would also seem that the climatic final battle will take place at the Statue of Liberty, which is seemingly getting a makeover and what looks like a Captain America shield added to her ensemble. We also see that Spidey is fighting all five villains on his own, an unprecedented feat for any version of the Web Head. There is also an homage to two iconic scenes: MJ falls from the Statue and Peter must catch her. Will it more so resemble the scene in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man or the Gwen Stacy scene in Amazing Spider-Man 2? Only time will tell there.
All in all, this trailer has to be seen to be believed. We get a much better looking Electro, A Doc Ock possibly powered by some Stark Tech, a version of the Green Goblin that is somehow both accurate to the first trilogy and also much better looking and a conflicted Peter Parker on his greatest challenge ever. And, of course, we still get plenty of fun quips and laughs throughout what may be Spider-Man’s darkest film to date. This next month could feel like an eternity waiting for this film to hit theaters on December 17th!
