While many of the television shows for Marvel before the current canon Disney Plus run that helped kick of Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were hit and miss when it comes to quality and fan appreciation, it is hard to deny the fantastic stories we got from Netflix’s Daredevil series. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio brought Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, respectively, from the pages of the comics to life on the small screen. After a stellar third season that set up one of Daredevil’s greatest foes in Bullseye, fans were excited for a Season Four.
However – when the Disney/Netflix deal fell apart on the heels of Disney announcing its own streaming service, the show was canceled and said fourth season was lost forever. Now, Cox has revealed that the anticipated villain was indeed on deck to reek havoc in the fourth season.
According to Giant Freakin’ Robot, Cox was at MCM London, one of the biggest conventions in the world, an addressed the canceled season for fans. His take was that we would see Wilson Bethal’s Benjamin Poindexter would finish his descent into madness and finally take up the mantle of Bullseye. Bullseye has been Daredevil’s biggest menace, a stark opposite to the hero, and has arguably caused more trauma in Murdock’s life than any other foe. He is also a fan favorite villain, showing a ying to Daredevil’s yang.
A fourth season surrounding the emergence of this foe, backed with the possibility of the adamantium spine he received in the comics (or at least some variation of it as Disney had not bought Fox Media at the time), fans were in for one hell of a ride.
This of course never came to be. And as of now, there seems to be zero indication from Disney and Marvel Studios of continuing on this story, despite the rumors of Charlie Cox returning as Murdock in the MCU. Maybe one day we will see an MCU version of Bullseye and it will be one that fans can get behind.
