One of the most memorable aspects of the Hellraiser franchise has been its usage of makeup effects. With so many horrific and creative Cenobites, the makeup on these creatures has almost always been loved by fans worldwide. Now actress Jamie Clayton, who will be portraying the villain Pinhead otherwise known as the Hell Priest, has shared the makeup process for the upcoming Hellraiser reboot.
The makeup process was done by Russell FX, an effects studio ran by Josh and Sierra Russell. The two have collaborated with David Bruckner on his films The Ritual and The Night House, so it makes sense that they’d reunite once again for Hellraiser. And considering they’re all new to the Hellraiser franchise, it’s extremely exciting to get to see some new ideas and perspectives put on these classic characters. In the meantime, however, Jamie Clayton and her makeup process video has given a subtle tease at what’s to come. In fact, it’s actually rather claustrophobic and as such arguably scarier than anything in the movies.

Hopefully we’ll get to see more of Jamie Clayton’s role in the film and other details in the near future. The film recently wrapped shooting so it shouldn’t be much longer before more details are revealed. As of this moment, it appears that the film will be a more faithful adaptation of Clive Barker’s novella The Hellbound Heart. The story has been the basis for the entire Hellraiser franchise, so hopefully this new film succeeds in doing it justice.
David Bruckner is directing the Hellraiser reboot which is intended for a release on the Hulu streaming service. David Goyer wrote the story for the film, with the screenplay having been written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski.
The release date for the upcoming Hellraiser film is yet to be announced. But fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates on the project, including its release date on Hulu, as we have them.
