After many years of rumors and discussions, Hocus Pocus 2 is finally filming. The highly anticipated sequel to the 1993 film Hocus Pocus is something that’s been on seemingly everyone’s radar. After all, with several decades of popularity and multiple generations of fans – it isn’t hard to see the appeal. As such, it’s incredibly exciting to see the movie finally go into production.
The film’s production was confirmed by The Providence Journal, which revealed that a crew was shooting at La Salle Academy.
The school was seen with a sign which read:
“Notice – Filming Today. Fairy Dust Productions, Inc. will be filming at La Salle Academy today. By entering, you hereby irrevocably consent to and authorize Fairy Dust Productions, Inc., its successors and assigns, to photograph you and/or make sound recordings of you and to use the same worldwide, for any purpose whatsoever in perpetuity; all such photographs and sound recordings to be the sole property of Fairy Dust Productions, Inc.”
While they didn’t explicitly state that Hocus Pocus 2 was the film being shot, it is the only movie on Fairy Dust Productions’ schedule. It’s also the only movie that they had prepared to shoot in Rhode Island. What’s more, a multitude of film locations have been constructed in Rhode Island. This includes a 1600s New England village which was constructed in Chase Farm park in Lincoln, Rhode Island. You can see several of these spots in the below set photos shared on Instagram via Luna Moon Gothic:

It’s also exciting to note that they seem to be constructing the original Salem witch house from the first film. It’ll be interesting to see what else could surface for this Disney Plus movie as filming continues. Here are some other Hocus Pocus 2 set photos from filming:

As for the plot of the new film…
“Three young women accidentally bring back the Sanderson Sisters to modern day Salem and must figure out how to stop the child-hungry witches from wreaking havoc on the world.”
Anne Fletcher is currently directing the film from a screenplay by Jen D’Angelo. The cast for the film includes Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy as the original Sanderson Sisters. Taylor Henderson, Stephanie Faracy, and Sam Richardson are also joining the cast so far.
Hocus Pocus 2 is scheduled to be released on Disney Plus in Fall of 2022.
