One of the most iconic horror villains of all time is none other than Freddy Krueger. Robert Englund was the first actor to portray the character, in Wes Craven’s 1984 classic A Nightmare on Elm Street. The film has since been recognized as an incredible and influential piece of cinema in the decades since. With so many iconic elements, including Freddy Krueger’s glove with bladed fingertips, it’s hard not to be a fan. And now, for one lucky fan with enough cash, you could potentially own Freddy Krueger’s glove. The famous prop is going to go up for auction in a major prop sale.
This major prop sale is going to be a massive one. It will also include props such as Russell Crowe’s helmet used in Gladiator, and even an X-Wing starfighter model used in Return of the Jedi. Indeed, there’s potentially going to be something for everyone in the upcoming auction.
As revealed by Stephen Lane, founder and chief executive of Prop Store, via DailyMail:
“People get hugely excited about going back and revisiting the film and having the artifacts next to them while they are watching it.”
Freddy Krueger’s glove is currently expected to go for £30,000 ($41.42 thousand USD). While it is quite a high price, it’s definitely worth it considering how iconic of a prop it is. In total, the entire collection being sold at the auction is being estimated at £5.5 million ($7.59 million USD). So there’s definitely going to be plenty of other exciting items up for sale. It’ll be interesting to see how the auction turns out with that in mind.
In any case, it’d certainly be great to have Freddy Krueger’s glove as a memento of the iconic franchise. It’s been over a decade since the last Nightmare on Elm Street film, a remake starring actor Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger, and fans are desperate for another.
