With the next installment in the Scream film franchise on the way, it’s time to get excited. A variety of new images for the upcoming Scream film have been released, and they tease characters both old and new. They also give a menacing look at this film’s Ghostface, who once again remains consistent with the way he was portrayed in past entries.
As you can see below, the images include our first new look at Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, and David Arquette as Dewey Riley. We also get our first look at Jenna Ortega as Tara, Melissa barrera as Sam, Jack Quaid as Richie, Jasmin Savoy Brown as Mindy, and Dylan Minnette as Wes. It’s an exciting glimpse into the new film ahead of the upcoming trailer, and it’s nice to see that they’ll be balancing so many familiar and new characters. At a time when it was thought we’d never be getting a proper Scream sequel again, it’s an especially surreal and sweet time to be a fan.
It’s worth noting that one of the images from Entertainment Weekly is also of Stu’s house from the original Scream film. It goes to show that this sequel will be taking some very interesting directions with the franchise.
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett directed Scream, taking over for the late Wes Craven who directed the original four films. James Vanderbilt wrote the script with Guy Busick. Original Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson is executive producing alongside Chad Villella. Project X Entertainment’s James Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak are serving as producers on the film.
The cast for Scream includes returning cast members David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Marley Shelton, and Roger L. Jackson. The new cast members include Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Dylan Minnette, Mikey Madison, Sonia Ben Ammar and Kyle Gallner.
Scream is currently scheduled to hit theaters on January 14, 2022.
