You would be hard pressed to find a film franchise that is as large and as successful as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In fact, there is no other franchise in Hollywood history to be as stacked with hits as the 25 films and (as of now) four Disney Plus series as the MCU – and if you think that Marvel Studios is ready to leave on a high note and call it a day or to just phone it in from here, you would be mistaken. Not only are they planning on continuing their tour de force, there are actually nearly three dozen projects already on the books!
Victoria Alonzo, while speaking during an engagement at “El Caecito” (via 221 Radio) corrected a kind of throwaway statement of Marvel having something like 35 projects currently in the works:
“We are currently working on 31 projects, don’t add four more, please.”
This is the most that Marvel has had on their slate at one time, especially considering that there are only 29 films/tv series in the MCU at the moment, all the way up to What If…?. But what are all these projects? Well, we know of quite a few, and since its unclear if she is counting the finished projects that have yet to be released, so we’ll count them for now. We have Eternals, Hawkeye, Spider-Man: No Way Home, wrapping up this year. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and The Marvels hitting cinemas in 2022 whilst Ms. Marvel, She-Hulk, Moon Knight, Secret Invasion and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will all arrive on Disney Plus.
Top that with the other known projects, like Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, as well as announced projects like Blade, Deadpool 3, Fantastic Four, Captain America 4, more Disney Plus series like Ironheart, Armor Wars, and second seasons of Loki and WhatIf…?, and that leaves at least 9 other projects that have yet to be announced.
And, after the weekend we’ve had with the release of Venom: Let There Be Carnage as well as Marvel having all the properties from Fox now under their belts, the possibilities are seemingly endless. We could be getting the X-Men, the Sinister Six, and so much more. The future is very bright for the MCU and for fans.
