The Scream franchise will be returning to movie theaters early next year, and soon fans will be able to celebrate the legacy of the 1996 original! In an exciting announcement, it’s been revealed that actor David Arquette – in his role as Dewey Riley – will be hosting an Airbnb at Stu Macher’s house from the first Scream film. This is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience for fans of the Scream franchise.
Luckily, the event doesn’t end there. For those unable to travel in person, Airbnb is still offering the “Secrets of Scream” Online Experience. This experience will allow fans to watch an online stream of original Scream screenwriter Kevin Williamson. What’s more, not only will Kevin Williamson be discussing the history of the original film, but he’ll be diving into details for the upcoming sequel as well.
Here’s what Kevin Williamson has stated in an official announcement via Bloody-Disgusting:
“Anything anybody wants to know about Scream, the filming of it, the secrets or anything that hasn’t been revealed yet will be discussed,” Williamson said. “It will be exciting to go back down memory lane.”
As for the new film in the iconic franchise, he stated:
“When I watched it I thought it was very nostalgic. There was something about it that was new and fresh and had all of these new characters racing through it, but…it has a little bit of a warm fuzzy center to it.”
It’s also been revealed that Airbnb won’t just make a one-time donation to Ween Dream, which will provide free Halloween costumes to children in need across the United States. They’ll also be donating 100% of the proceeds from the “Secrets of Scream” Online Experience to The Trevor Project. As further explained by Kevin Williamson:
“The Trevor Project is a charity that’s near and dear to me. I’ve been a part of it for a long time,” Williamson said, “and I believe the range for attempted suicide is almost five times higher for gay teens [compared to heterosexual teens]. I just feel like that’s too big a number. Obviously any number is too big, but that statistic is kind of shocking.”
