Actor Jake Gyllenhaal has constructed quite the career for himself over the years. Now he’s taken the time to make a rather interesting statement. According to the beloved Hollywood actor, Jake Gyllenhaal firmly believes that “women are superior to men.”
Jake Gyllenhaal stated this while speaking with The Times and used the opportunity to discuss the role he plays in his nieces’ lives.
“They are truly two of the most incredible people. They come from a long line of incredible women and they’re even more incredible than the ones before them.”
The fan-favorite actor explained that at first he didn’t see them very often aside from “at a dinner or a thing.” But he eventually managed to take a more active role with the two girls – Ramone, 14, and Gloria Ray, 9.
“(They come) to stay with me, you know, when my sister and my brother-in-law need a break, and actually having the time to say let’s spend five days together.”
Gyllenhaal further added:
“Getting to know them and watching them grow up and actually sitting and listening to their experiences and the things that they’re going through.”
However, Jake Gyllenhaal doesn’t try to act as a parent to the young women. In fact, he actually gives them free reign of his house. As he explained:
“Because they are the farthest from being a handful that you could imagine. And they’re really not on their phones. Their father taught them a lot about the outdoors and the country, it’s very important to him. So they find trees more interesting than phones, which is a rarity.”
The actor went on to add that Greta Thunberg was an inspiration and says “women are superior to men (in many ways as they develop) a sense of mortality earlier than men”.
It seems that Jake Gyllenhaal’s time with his nieces, the daughters of his sister, actress Maggie Gyllenhaal, have greatly impacted his life. At a time during the pandemic when everyone has taken more time to adjust their perspectives, it seems like Jake Gyllenhaal has managed to have a very positive experience with his time.
