It isn’t any surprise that a wide variety of rumors have been circulating regarding Spider-Man: No Way Home. The upcoming MCU film is balancing several characters from several different continuities, and fans have been busy trying to figure out just how many characters could be appearing. While it’s been highly suggested that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, who both previously played the titular superhero in their respective takes on the character, a more recent rumor has suggested a different Spider-Man 2 cast member. In particular, it’s been rumored that actress Donna Murphy would be reprising her role as Rosalie Octavius. According to Murphy herself, however, this is not the case.

While Donna Murphy gave a particularly straightforward response on the subject, it’s worth noting that she isn’t the only actor or actress denying their involvement. Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield have both rejected the idea of their involvement in Spider-Man: No Way Home, although other details seem to heavily suggest otherwise. Of course, in Donna Murphy’s case, there doesn’t seem to be much evidence to counter her claim. As such, we’ll just have to wait and see if the final film at least references her character from Spider-Man 2.
As for the plot of the new film…
“For the first time in the cinematic history of Spider-Man, our friendly neighborhood hero is unmasked and no longer able to separate his normal life from the high-stakes of being a Super Hero. When he asks for help from Doctor Strange the stakes become even more dangerous, forcing him to discover what it truly means to be Spider-Man.”
The upcoming MCU film was directed by Jon Watts from a script by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
Tom Holland, Zendaya, Marisa Tomei, Benedict Cumberbatch, Jamie Foxx, Alfred Molina, Jacob Batalon, Tony Revolori, and Hannibal Buress are all attached to appear.
Spider-Man: No Way Home is currently scheduled to hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
