Although Johnny Depp has been entangled in a variety of legal issues with his ex-wife actress Amber Heard, it appears that certain things are looking up for the actor. Aside from scoring a legal win which will allow the court to actually examine Amber Heard’s alleged donation records, it appears that Johnny Depp is still being celebrated for his acting career as well. In fact, Johnny Depp is currently still scheduled to earn the Donostia Award this fall.
This news comes via Deadline, where they revealed he’d be receiving the Donostia Award which is associated with the San Sebastian Film Festival. The award is actually the festival’s highest honor, with Johnny Depp scheduled to receive it this September. While announcing this, they managed to call Depp “one of contemporary cinema’s most talented and versatile actors.”
It’s worth noting that several actors also received this award last year. These actors include Ethan Hawke, Sigourney Weaver, Judy Dench, Penelope Cruz, and Viggo Mortensen. As such, it looks like Johnny Depp will soon be joining all of them. However, it’s unclear whether or not he’ll be accepting the award in person. After all, the pandemic has made international travel less than convenient – and the San Sebastian Film Festival is held in Spain. What’s more, Johnny Depp has been dealing with the aforementioned legal issues as noted above. It might simply be too difficult to publicly accept an award at such a potentially controversial time for the iconic actor.
In any case, it seems like Johnny Depp still has a few positive developments in his life at the moment. This Donostia Award is now another one that Johnny Depp can look forward to. On the other hand, it’s unclear where exactly Johnny Depp’s future in acting will be. No doubt, all of that will depend on the outcome of his legal entanglements with ex-wife Amber Heard.
