When the Disney/Fox merger happened, fans were so excited to see franchises like X-Men and the Fantastic Four to be rebooted and done properly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, there is one character that is already done to perfection, and that is Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool. So the concern there was how would Disney and Marvel Studios treat the fourth wall breaking, expletive spitting Merc with a Mouth? Well, it would seem that they want to honor what has already come before and have Reynolds and the Molyneux sisters actively working on a script for Deadpool 3.
With no planned released date nor a director chosen, will it even get to production? According to Reynolds, the odds are more than favorable that production will begin next year.
As the national treasure that is Ryan Reynolds is doing press for his upcoming film Free Guy, Collider asked what were the chances of production beginning in 2021 would be. Here is what he had to say:
“The percentage chance? I don’t know. I couldn’t assign a percentage to that. I’d say it’s 50/50 maybe? We’re really actively developing it and getting it into pretty good shape. What the hell month is it? August? Oh next year? Probably pretty damn good. I’d say 70%.”
So, while its obvious that Reynolds doesn’t know anything definitive, he is mostly sure that production will begin sooner rather than later– and that is good enough for this fan. He goes on to say that the script is coming together well and that he is impressed by the sister team and their approach to this world they’re building onto with this story.
All in all, fans are looking forward to see exactly how Deadpool will be folded into the MCU and how many times he’ll mention the original FoX-Men Universe. Hopefully, a release date will get put on the docket soon.
