We’re living in a time when serial killers are once again a major topic of discussion, film, and television. One of the most popular of which has been real life serial killer Ted Bundy, and a new film based on the manhunt which eventually caught him is on the way. The new film, titled Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman, has just received a brand new trailer.
As you can see below, actor Chad Michael Murray brings Ted Bundy to the screen this time around.
While there are already a wide variety of projects revolving around the tale of Ted Bundy, this particular biopic does appear to tell an interesting angle on the story. By focusing on the perspective of the FBI, this film has the potential to go more in depth with the manhunt that led to Bundy’s arrest. It also features Robert Ressler as a character, who should be recognized as the government agent responsible for having coined the term “serial killer.” As such, there should be plenty of interesting aspects to gauge while watching this new film.
In the upcoming movie…
“A specter roams the highways of a gritty 1970s America, his name is Ted Bundy. Hunting him are intrepid FBI agents Kathleen McChesney and Robert Ressler, organizers of the largest manhunt in history to apprehend America’s most infamous serial killer.”
The film was written and directed by Daniel Farrands, who previously directed The Amityville Murders and The Haunting of Sharon Tate. It’s also worth noting that he wrote the screenplay for the sixth original Halloween film, Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers. The cast includes the aforementioned Chad Michael Murray, horror icon Lin Shaye whose credits include A Nightmare on Elm Street and Insidious, along with actress Holland Roden.
Ted Bundy: American Boogeyman will play in theaters for one night only on August 16, 2021, courtesy of Fathom Events. The film will then be available via On Demand and DVD on September 3, 2021.
