Many fans have been interested in seeing what direction the upcoming film The Matrix 4 could be going in. Now, according to a new rumor, it’s suggested that The Matrix 4 will actually include a 60-year time jump into the future. This film would then continue to show how much of the world has changed since the events of the third film in the original trilogy. Of course, these reported plot details should be taken with a grain of salt. But considering the film really will be dealing with a rebooted version of the Matrix program, it does make sense to go further into the future.
As stated via GFR:
“The Matrix 4 plot will put us about 60 years after the events of Matrix Revolutions. For many of the humans living outside the computer program, a literal lifetime has passed. But, of course, the Matrix has been rebooted, something we knew at the end of Revolutions. In this new timeline, there have been significant changes from the world we last left. Not all are still alive and the “world” has a divergent feel from the one Neo first entered all those years ago.”
Because of this alleged time jump for The Matrix 4, they further stated that we should be seeing older versions of some characters. Meanwhile other characters have been killed off completely. Furthermore, they’ve stated that Neo’s goal in the film is to try and “free a version of Trinity from the existing Matrix.” She’ll once again be played by Carrie-Anne Moss but this time goes by the name Tiffany with a “normal” life inside of the Matrix. It’s also been stated that Neil Patrick Harris will play “The Analyst, a proxy for Helmut Bakaitis’s Architect who helped broker some of the peace between the humans and machines.”
Hopefully we’ll have more details as we approach the film’s release date towards the end of this year.
The Matrix 4 is currently scheduled for a release date in both theaters and on HBO Max beginning December 22, 2021.
