With the pandemic moving out of the way, the Wolf Creek franchise is preparing for a major comeback. According to a new announcement, which includes a new poster, Wolf Creek 3 is finally moving forward – and now Altitude Film Sales has acquired worldwide sales rights for the film.
It was revealed via Variety:
“Altitude Film Sales has taken worldwide sales rights, excluding Australia/New Zealand, for “Wolf Creek 3,” the latest installment of the Wolf Creek franchise, and will introduce the project to buyers this week at the Virtual Cannes Market.”
John Jarratt will once again star in the film as Mick Taylor, an outback serial killer he played perfectly in the first two Wolf Creek films and both seasons of the TV series. And fans won’t have to wait long for him to get in front of the camera. As further noted by Variety:
“Production will commence late 2021 in South Australia.”
So with filming scheduled to begin later this year, we shouldn’t hopefully have to wait much longer for more updates on the film. It’s been a bit of a long wait since the second season of the Wolf Creek TV series concluded, so getting to see things back on track is especially exciting. With that in mind, it was also previously suggested that we would also be getting a third season of the TV series as well – so hopefully we’ll know more about that soon. So stay tuned to ScreenGeek for updates on all things Wolf Creek as we have them.
In the meantime, a nifty new teaser poster was created for the Wolf Creek 3 announcement via Creepy Duck Design which you can see below:
As for the plot of the third Wolf Creek film entry…
“An American family takes a dream trip to the Australian outback and soon draws the attention of notorious serial killer Mick Taylor. A hellish nightmare ensues as the couple’s two children escape only to be hunted by Australia’s most infamous killer.”
Rachele Wiggins will take over from Greg McLean as director, although McLean will stay attached as producer. The script for the new film was written by Duncan Samarasinghe.
