As Tom Hiddleston returns to the fan favorite character in the Loki series on Disney Plus, people are excited to see the beloved villain-turned-hero (somewhat) having a second chance at life after meeting his demise at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. But, with Loki getting a new lease, will we see further adventures between himself and his adopted brother Thor? After all, Thor is getting a fourth solo film and they just started to scratch the surface of a true and loving dynamic before the final two Avengers films. Well, Hiddleston himself has addressed this rumor of coming back for Thor: Love and Thunder during the Loki press junket, and fans may just not like what he had to say.
While talking with Digital Spy, Tom confirms that his story with Thor has concluded and he will not be appearing in the upcoming fourth solo flick for the God of Thunder:
“We have explored about as much as we can about these two brothers. We talked about the Thor movies as a family saga, and the diametric opposition between Thor and Loki, and duality and antagonism, being a book that perhaps should remain closed for the moment.”
So, there you have it, it doesn’t look like Loki is in Thor: Love and Thunder. That chapter is closed, and should remain so, according to Hiddleston. However, he doesn’t lock the door and throw away the key. With a second season of Loki seemingly already greenlit and on production sheets, and the fact that we still have no idea what will happen to Thor nor his future in the MCU, we could very well get a cameo from Chris Hemsworth in the second season and see the brothers reunite!
Wishful thinking aside, the first episode of Loki really did bring closure to the God of Mischief’s run in the MCU and what happens from here on all will most likely be a solo outing for Loki, outside of time. After all, he technically no longer exists, so he can’t go back. But, he could be an asset for the TVA, if they are truly the noble organization that claim themselves to be.
