Warner Bros has released the second trailer for Space Jam: A New Legacy, the upcoming sequel and reboot to the original 1996 film Space Jam. The new trailer shows off quite a bit of new footage compared to the last one, and we even get a better glimpse at the new CGI renditions based on our favorite Looney Tunes characters. With a little over a month until the film’s release date in both theaters and on HBO Max, it’s the perfect opportunity to release another big look at the film.
Here’s the new trailer:
While there are plenty of differences when comparing Space Jam: A New Legacy to the original Space Jam, this second trailer also shows that there’s still a lot in common between both films. It also shows off some interesting new glimpses at the villains of the film, a team known as the Goon Squad, and they’ll be standing in for the Monstars that previously made up the villainous team in the last Space Jam film. The film will also be quite different from its predecessor in that it will be utilizing many other Warner Bros properties than just the Looney Tunes. As both this trailer and the first trailer showed, there will be an extraordinary number of Warner Bros properties brought to life – some of which aren’t even from kid-friendly properties. As such, this will definitely make for an interesting kind of movie.
Malcom D. Lee directed Space Jam: A New Legacy. The film’s script was written by Juel Taylor, Tony Rettenmaier, Keenan Coogler and Terence Nance.
The film stars LeBron James, along with the likes of Anthony Davis, Klay Thompson, Chris Paul, Damian Lillard, Diana Taurasi, Chiney Ogwumike, and Nneka Ogwumike. Don Cheadle and Sonequa Martin-Green are also set to appear. Just don’t expect Pepe Le Pew.
Space Jam: A New Legacy is currently scheduled to hit both theaters and HBO Max on July 16, 2021.
