One of the most exciting aspects about the upcoming DC film The Flash is that it will connect with the two classic superhero films Batman and Batman Returns. The two movies each starred actor Michael Keaton as the titular superhero Batman, a role which he hasn’t played again until now. As such, it’s incredibly exciting to know he’ll be returning – and now director Andy Muschietti has teased a very familiar-looking Batman costume for The Flash.
Unfortunately, at least for Michael Keaton’s Batman, it looks like he isn’t going to be in the best of shape in the new film. Specifically, there’s a decent splash of blood covering part of the iconic Batman symbol. Perhaps Batman will end up taking on a bit more than he can chew in the new film? As you can see below, it certainly looks that way.

It’s worth nothing that this particular glimpse at the costume from The Flash seems to indicate a high resemblance to the one Michael Keaton wore in Batman Returns. This is rather appropriate considering that film was the time we last saw Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne aka Batman. As such, it’ll be interesting to see just what the character has been up to after all of this time. Of course, given the splash of blood, it probably hasn’t been the smoothest of experiences. Hopefully we’ll know more as production on the new film continues.
Andy Muschietti is currently directing The Flash from a script written by Christina Hodson.
Ezra Miller will be starring as the titular superhero The Flash. Meanwhile, the aforementioned Michael Keaton will be playing Bruce Wayne aka Batman for the first time since Batman Returns. Ben Affleck is also expected to return as his take on Batman from the modern DCEU.
The film is currently scheduled for a theatrical release date late next year on November 4, 2022.
