It appears that video game fans are about to have a lot to look forward to, specifically for fans of the popular Borderlands franchise. A new film adaptation is in the works, and the first look for the upcoming live-action Borderlands film has now been released. As you can see below, the first look was teased by actress Jamie Lee Curtis – who will be playing Dr. Patricia Tannis in the new film.
Here’s what she shared in the caption along with the image:
“Welcome to BORDERLANDS & a secret BTS shot I took of Lilith, our legendary heroine, psycho blasting, vault hunting vixen with a bad attitude.#cateblanchett From the brilliant minds of @borderlandsfilm @therealeliroth @gearbox @picturestart @Lionsgate Arad Productions”

Of course, the first look doesn’t reveal much but a simple silhouette of Cate Blanchett as her character Lilith. But it is an exciting glimpse nevertheless, and a great way to tease the beginnings of the film’s production.
As for the official plot synopsis…
“In the movie Lilith (Blanchett), an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas (Ramirez). Lilith forms an alliance with an unexpected team – Roland (Hart), a former elite mercenary, now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina (Greenblatt), a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg (Munteanu), Tina’s musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis (Curtis), the scientist with a tenuous grip on sanity; and Claptrap (Black), a persistently wiseass robot. These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands – but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.”
The cast for the film features Jack Black as Claptrap, Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Kevin Hart as Roland, Jamie Lee Curtis as Dr. Patricia Tannis, Ariana Greenblatt as Tiny Tina, and Gina Gershon as Moxxi. The cast also includes Edgar Ramirez, Florian Munteanu, Janina Gavankar, Cheyenne Jackson, Charles Babalola, Benjamin Byron Davis, Steven Boyer, Ryann Redmond, and Haley Bennett.
Eli Roth is currently directing the film which was written by Aaron Berg and Craig Mazin.
Borderlands is expected for a release date sometime next year in 2022. With this in mind, stay tuned for more Borderlands updates as we have them – especially now that the first look has been revealed.
