One of the most exciting Marvel projects previously announced for the Disney Plus streaming service is the upcoming Moon Knight series. The character is a much beloved Marvel character and one that was previously considered by fans to be an unlikely choice to appear in the MCU. This all changed with the launch of Disney Plus, however, now that the streaming service has more leeway in adapting all kinds of classic characters. Now, according to a new announcement, it’s been revealed that actor Oscar Isaac will star in the series as the titular Moon Knight.
As revealed in the following announcement via Marvel Studios and Oscar Isaac:

The caption, “WE ARE MOONKNIGHT,” is a very meaningful one. In the comics, Moon Knight is well known for having a gamut of split personalities. These different personalities were a side effect of being gifted superpowers by the Egyptian moon god Khonshu, and it looks like Marvel will be including that aspect of the character in the upcoming Disney Plus series. This should be considered a very good sign for fans, especially those who doubted Marvel’s ability to faithfully adapt the source material. Of course, we still have a long ways to go to see where the series moves from here – but seeing Oscar Isaac in the lead role is definitely an exciting sign.
The head writer for the series is none other than Jeremy Slater, co-creator of Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy and also creator and executive producer of the Exorcist TV series. So with that being said, it appears that the series is more than certainly in the right hands. Hopefully we’ll have more details on Moon Knight soon – especially now that Oscar Isaac has been cast.
As of this writing, the Moon Knight series has yet to receive a release date, but it seems more than likely it will be scheduled for a release sometime in 2022.
