Unfortunately, like many films of the past year, Terrifier 2 has been subjected to an unusually long production period due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, director Damien Leone is assuring fans that he hopes to have the film finished by this Halloween. What’s more, he gave quite the update on the film’s Facebook page, revealing that a rough cut of the film has been completed. As it turns out, Terrifier 2 will actually have a runtime that goes over two hours.
As explained in the official statement released by Damien Leone on Facebook:
“Well we officially have a rough cut, guys! And it looks fucking amazing! And it’s also 2 hrs and 21 minutes long!” Leone revealed. “You are all in for a very generous, very fresh and very satisfying horror film that I’m sure will not disappoint.”
Leone continues, “So what now? It’s time to head on into the polishing phase of post-production. We will begin tackling the sound design, score, color correction and some minor vfx (don’t worry! The gore is all practical!) We are also going to keep trimming the fat and refining the film itself. Keep in mind rough cuts are initially quite long but I can guarantee you the final run time of Terrifier 2 will remain slightly over 2 hours long. It’s epic! Once the film is in a more presentable stage, we will tackle distribution. We’re still aiming for a Halloween release but again, it all comes down to a distribution deal. Just know we’re working our asses off day and night and want it out to you guys as soon as possible.”
So while it has been a long wait for the film, it looks like it’ll certainly be worth it. Especially if Terrifier 2 delivers with its epic two hour long runtime. It should definitely be a great treat for fans of the first Terrifier and the iconic appearances Art the Clown has made over the years.
Here’s the plot for the upcoming horror sequel…
“After being resurrected by a sinister entity, Art returns to Miles County where he must hunt down and destroy a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween.”
Actor David H. Thornton will once again be reprising his role from the first film as the murderous Art the Clown. Lauren LaVera (Clinton Road) is playing the film’s female lead. On top of these leads is the exciting announcement that several 1980’s horror icons will all be making appearances as well. Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Jason Lively (Night of the Creeps) and Tamara Glynn (Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers) will all be appearing in the upcoming sequel.
Terrifier 2 was written and directed by Damien Leone.
